Throat

January 25, 2021

Your type of butterfly I could never quite swallow
It’d get stuck in my throat
Trapped halfway between rejection and being true
Sometimes I wish I could fit my arm down my esophagus
Either to force things down
or to snake out the words I’d been withholding
I always fear I’d push down or pull out too much
There are certain dreams I cannot oxygenate
and certain hurts too acidic for my stomach.
