Lucid

December 31, 2020

I woke up with the smell of you in my head
My knee still frosty from the unthawed Earth
I woke up shivering warm
Wrapped up in lovesick red

I laid in bed, puzzling over You
My mind still beating duet with my heart
I lied in bed Dreams are Only Fantasy
Riddling still, whether I should feel blue

I sat there hungry to see the entire scene
My eyes still foggy from when I asked for You
I sat there with a prayer in my teeth
Stuck at the light wondering if it’s green

I got up hoping you’d say hello
My heart still sipping on memory
I got up waiting for your letter
Trapped in your hoodie that’s red and yellow

I still blush every time I’m granted a wink
My smile feels taffy stretched stupid
I still have to call back my racehorse heart
Freed by your touch, with cheeks still pink.
